Periskop
*The solo project of Danny Kreutzfeldt translates to ‘Periscope’ from both the languages of his divided background in Scandinavia and Czech Republic, thus making it a focal point for his versatile efforts in
deep electronic music in more than one sense.*
Having released and performed in a wide range of styles and under a swarm of different guises since 2002, Kreutzfeldt’s work has always been impossible to box in – and the description of him as ‘a scene of his own’ (by Tobias Fischer from Tokafi) seems very fitting. However, whether working with the limits of sound as an organizer and performer of extreme and experimental music, or whether making emotionally engaging electronica and techno for labels like Thinner, Ultimae or Databloem, it has always been hard to shake off the detached and dim atmosphere in his work.
In 2008, the long line of projects and engagements were narrowed down to just one active solo project; Periskop, in which a swarm of free MP3s are continually being added to a huge body of deep, heavy and uncompromising electronica described as ‘Click-doom’ or ‘Industrial dub’ – all available on the project website for no apparent reason and without any significant media attention. Urlyd is excited to be working with Kreutzfeldt on presenting some of this bulk of innovative electronic music in the concentrated and focused package of a normal album length release.
